Tropico 3

As anyone who was on steam during the last 2 weeks would see I had been playing a whole lot of Tropico 3. This game is basically a tycoon game where you can control your entire city and your avatar (that being the president of tropico).

Your objective is different for each campaign mission e.g. attract so many tourists or export so many resources. You can also play the sandbox which just means you need to survive until 1999. This is a lot more tricky than it sounds with the constant threat of National debt, rebellions and invasion by the USA or the USSR. As well as all this you must deal with the leading factions on the island in order to win them over in the election.

You get to Fully customize your avatar from the clothes that they wear to their background and even the personality e.g. charismatic or a womanizer. These will have an effect not only on those people on the island but also foreign countries too. For instance the Intellectuals on the Island did not like the fact that I was once a farmer, while the USA didn't like that I took power by force.

So yeah, I really recommend this game for any tycoon fan as it is a real treat. Honestly I haven't been so hooked on a game since Dragon age.

Steam Sales

So I got quite a few games from the Steam sale last week, mainly from the last day of said sale. I gathered a nice hoard of Seven games that I can remember.Tropico 3

These Games are:

  • Time please Gentlemen
  • Tropico 3
  • Thief
  • Red Faction 3
  • GTA IV
  • Lead and Gold
  • Gothic 3
  • Madballs (I didn't buy but all the same Tongue out)
  • Star Wars: Empire at War

So yeah thats my list of recent buys. Although I've only played a few of these I'm glad all of all my purcahses... with the exception of Gothic 3. My experience on  that game was less than pleasurable but perhaps I was being biased after playing such a good RPG as Dragon age.

 Anyway thats all chaps.

Dragon Age: Origins Awakening

My characterAfter months of waiting for this game due to exam interference, I finally got to play the Dragon age expansion
pack and I'm telling you now, it was well worth the wait Smile.

The story follows on from the Origins storyline, where despite the end of the blight the Darkspawn continue to cause havoc among the surface world. It is up to you as the new Grey warden commander to rebuild your order and deal with the new Darkspawn threat.

Along your travels you pick up different companions who will aid you in your fight against the Darkspawn. As Arl of your new lands you must resolve dispute among the lords and deal with peasant uprisings against you.

You can either start as a new character from the lands in the North or continue on your character from your original game. The later option is much better as you carry over all your riches and Armour etc to the expansion.

Anyway I've talked enough on this game I think, without ruining the storyline completely. I cannot recommend this game enough, it doesn't matter what style of RPG you are into, you will love this game. The story writing, voice acting and soundtrack are just superb, thus making this game series possibly the most enjoyable games I have played.

Anyway thats all Folks

Star Trek: Of Gods and Men

So I watched Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, yesterday. For those who don't know anything about it, it is a fan made film but the catch is it actually involves the actors of the star trek series (Although they may not be in their actual roles  they had originally e.g. Garret Wang does not play Harry Kim).

Now the storyline involves some characters from the original series that I am not too familiar with. Anyway the run down is that some guy with god like powers changes the time line in which Kirk was never never born and as a result the federation was changed into a huge evil empire.

Its a decent watch with plenty of action and although the limited budget shows through the camera play and the sets, also it can be a bit over dramatic at times. So, yeah check it out when you can.

New Blog

I come onto my blog today, not sure what to expect but I am greeted with a great new layout and wonderful new looking system. I want to congratulate Aaron for his success on the new blogs and to thank him for continuing to think of new ways to make them even better.

In other news I've finished school for nearly 2 weeks now and to be honest am a little bored at times. I seem to spend most of my time watching tv, some of the old Star Trek: Original series on youtube or playing Guild Wars. Hopefully this will all change soon when my copy of Dragon age eventually comes, after a cock up at Play.com.

Anyway here is my Guild wars Character:
Ranger/ Mage and is Currently Level 12

GW

Anyway Have fun,
